Domino Online: How to Play Free with Friends

How to start playing Georgian domino online: quick play, a private table for a friend by link or password, playing as a guest and playing on your phone — with no money involved.

To play Georgian domino you used to need a friend, a box of tiles and a table. Now a browser is enough. On tamashebi.cc, domino — the tile game, not the pizza chain — is played by Georgian rules: one stavka, scores in multiples of five, a protected bazari (boneyard) and the riba. Your opponent is a real person: a stranger the system finds for you, or a friend you invite yourself. This article walks you through how to start, how to invite a friend and what the virtual coin means.

What you need: a browser and a name

Any modern browser will do — on a phone, a tablet or a computer. There is nothing to download: the game opens right in the web page. Registration is not required either. To play as a guest, pick a name and an avatar — this is the name your opponent will see. A guest can play ordinary matches, sit at a friend’s table and practise against the bot. Ranked matches, a friends list and coin tables need an account. A guest account is temporary, but you can keep your results later: when you create an account, your matches and statistics are not lost.

Three ways to start

  1. Quick play: press “Play now” and the system finds you an opponent and starts the match by itself. It is the fastest way if you just want a game. With an account you can also choose a ranked match, and the result shows up on the leaderboard.
  2. A table with a friend: create your own table and send the link. The match starts once your friend sits down — details below.
  3. The bot: if you are still learning the rules or just want to practise, play the bot. It plays by the same rules, has three difficulty levels and cannot see your tiles.

How to play with a friend

  1. Open the domino page and choose “Create table”.
  2. Choose how many points to play to: 75 for a quick match, 175 for a normal length, 255 or 355 for a long evening.
  3. Choose a human opponent and “free” as the game type. A coin match is optional and only concerns players with an account.
  4. A table can be public — visible to everyone in the lobby — or private. On a private table you can set a password if you like (at least 4 characters); if you leave the field empty, the only way in is the link.
  5. Press “Copy link” and send it to your friend through any messenger.
  6. Your friend opens the link and takes a seat — with “Play as guest” if they have no account. When both seats are filled, the match begins.

If you both have accounts and are on each other’s friends lists, you don’t even need a table: just send a challenge. A challenge expires after two minutes, and the match is always played by the standard Georgian rules. This is the most convenient option if you play together often. To add someone as a friend, though, you both need a permanent account — a guest account is temporary and cannot keep a friends list. If you only want to play for one evening, the link is all you need.

On a phone and on a computer

Domino works fully in a phone browser, on Android and iPhone alike. The board fits the screen, you pick a tile with your finger, and if it fits more than one end, every possible spot is highlighted. No app is needed, although you can add the site to your home screen if you like. On a computer everything is the same, just with a bigger board and a mouse. A score appears next to the tile that earned it, and the server keeps the tally, so you no longer need pen and paper. If you have no move, drawing from the bazari is a single tap, and when only the two protected tiles are left there, your turn passes to your opponent by itself. If your connection drops — on the metro or in a lift, say — the match waits for you on the server: come back in time and you carry on from the same position with the same tiles. A match only counts as abandoned after a long absence.

A virtual coin, not money

Domino Coin is a virtual in-game coin. It is not money, cannot be bought, cannot be exchanged for money and means nothing outside the platform. You don’t need any coins at all for free tables. If anyone ever offers to sell you Domino Coin or exchange it for money, it is not us.

At a coin table both players put in the same number of coins and the winner of the match receives both; the site keeps nothing for itself. You get coins when you create an account, and if you run out you can earn more through the small “Earn Coin” game, daily challenges or achievements. Once you know the rules, you can try ranked matches — a finished match changes your rating exactly once — or join a tournament. Tournament rewards are virtual coins only.

Tips for your first match

  • Start against the bot or with a match to 75: you will pick up the rules faster. A match to 175 already takes several hands and more patience, and one to 355 is a proper long evening.
  • Read the rules article: the stavka, the riba and the opening-tile score are the three things that set Georgian domino apart from other variants the most.
  • Before every move, look at the total of the open ends: points are only scored on multiples of five, and choosing the right end often makes a 10-point difference.
  • Remember that nobody can draw the last two tiles of the bazari — don’t count on them.
  • Towards the end of a hand, count what you are holding: if your opponent goes out first, they score your total.
  • If any rule is unclear, go through the interactive tutorial — it takes a few minutes.
  • If a tile fits more than one end, don’t rush: check which end gives you points and which one leaves your opponent a ready-made total.
  • In the first hand you must open with the highest double, so the game will highlight only that one tile — this is not a bug.

Frequently asked questions

Is it really free?
Yes. Playing domino is completely free. Real money plays no part anywhere on the site — no deposits and no withdrawals.
Does my friend need an account to join my table?
No. After opening the link they can join as a guest — all they need is a name and an avatar.
What happens if my internet drops during a game?
The match is kept on the server. Come back in time and you carry on from the same position.
What do people type to find it?
Many people search for “domino tamashi” or “domino online tamashi” — both mean this game. The direct address is tamashebi.cc/domino.
Can the bot see my tiles?
No. The bot receives only what any player receives — your tiles are hidden from it too.
What is the difference between a public and a private table?
A public table is listed in the lobby and anyone can sit down. A private table is not listed: only people you send the link to can join, and if you set a password, they need to know that as well.

Domino on tamashebi.cc is free to play. Coin tables use only Domino Coin, a virtual in-game coin: it is never money, cannot be bought or cashed out, and means nothing outside the site. There is no real-money play, no top-up and no payment of any kind. The site is available in Georgian, English, Russian and Turkish.

The games on Tamashebi.cc are played in a Georgian-language interface. They are free and use a virtual coin, never real money.
