Card games have always had a place at the Georgian table and in the courtyard: some keep four people together for a whole evening, others two for ten minutes. Tamashebi.cc has four of them. Joker, Japanese Joker and Bura can be played right now, by Georgian rules and for free; Seka is on its way. Below is a short description of each — how many players it needs, what it rests on and who will enjoy it.
Joker — bidding and exact calculation
Joker is played by four, each for themselves. The deck has 36 cards, with two jokers in place of the two black sixes. In every hand you say how many tricks you will take, and an exact bid is what scores. A joker is always legal and can be played high or low. When a table is created you choose the standard game (24 hands) or nines (16 hands), the khishti option — 200, 500 or Special — and a free or a coin table. At the end of each pulka the server records the premia and moshla automatically.
Japanese Joker — for two
Japanese Joker uses the same deck for two players, and there is no bidding. The declarer picks a trump suit, or no trump, from three cards; then each player gets five cards in hand and ten on the table — in five columns, a face-up card on a face-down one. A hand has 18 tricks, the score is the difference, and the match runs to 21. The face-up cards on the table are visible to both players, so information itself is part of the game.
Bura — fast, loud and all about counting
Bura has three modes: three-card with a 20-card deck to 31 points, five-card with a 36-card deck to 61, and five-card in pairs for four players. The leader may lead several cards of one suit, and the responder either beats them all or gives the same number. The points you have taken are not shown — you count in your head and say “var” at the right moment. Davi raises the value of a hand up to six, and a match runs to 1, 3, 7 or 11 points. For practice, empty seats at a free table can be filled with bots.
Seka — coming soon
Seka is a three-card game: the cards are valued once and everything depends on decisions — stay in, raise or drop out. The strongest combination is a trinka, and on equal points the hand goes to svara. The rules vary from one group of players to another, so its page describes the most common version. The game does not open on the site yet and we cannot give a date. One thing is already settled: when it opens, there will be no real money in it.
Which one to choose
- Four of you with a whole evening — Joker: a long, tense match where every bid counts.
- Four of you who want to play as teams — Bura in pairs: partners sit opposite and their points count together.
- Two of you — Japanese Joker or three-card Bura.
- Ten minutes to spare — three-card Bura to one point.
- Alone and wanting practice — Bura with bots at a free table.
Words you will hear at the table
- Kozir (trump) — the suit that beats every other suit.
- Bez — a hand played with no trump.
- Trick — one round in which everyone plays a card and the best card takes it.
- Khishti — in Joker, bidding one or more and taking none.
- Pulka — a group of Joker hands, at the end of which premia and moshla are counted.
- Davi — in Bura, raising the value of the hand.
- “Var” — in Bura, the claim that you have already taken enough points.
A fair deal
Cards are shuffled on the server from a cryptographic source of randomness — the browser cannot influence the deal. For each player’s screen the server builds a separate picture containing only that player’s cards: your opponent’s hand is never sent to your browser, and a bot gets the same limited view. The server checks every move and does the scoring.
